FAQ's

Where did the Author get her inspiration to create an educational children's book series about culture, foreign language and geography?
Having a mother who is an educator in her 78th year and still teaching 4th grade, had taught Robin to value education. Therefore, the purpose of the book is to motivate children to study by encouraging a love for learning. In addition, having been reared by an educator and herself teaching in schools, Robin understands the challenge teachers have today. She wanted to write a book that taught children lessons in social responsibility for effective character development. Finally, she has traveled extensively since childhood and is therefore a big proponent of exposing kids to life outside the country. She has garnered many skills through a cross-section of her travels and work experiences and believes “hands-on” exposure to all the beauty and wonders of the world is the best way to educate a child.
What are the Author's Experiences Related To Her Travels & Making Use of a Foreign Language:
- Visit to Mexico as a 6th grader…communicated to Mexican family using a dictionary.
- Visit to England and France at age 14…communicated in French, learning about culture.
- Sitting by a girl from Germany as a Freshman in high school French class…cultural differences.
- College in France …learned to appreciate the French language and culture.
- Visit to Italy with a limited Italian vocabulary that allowed author to make friends.
- Visit to Kenya , African children were enthusiastic about learning about the author's country, likes and dislikes….opened the author's mind to the reality of being a citizen of Africa .
What made the author decide to write a children's book rather than a fiction book for grown-ups?
The author's eight year old niece wrote a wonderfully entertaining story for children which was funny and insightful. The story was about animals and her niece had managed to tie the beginning, middle and ending of the story in an artistically mature way. Having seen how a young child's imagination made for such an entertaining story, the author decided to sit down that day and write a story of her own from a child's point of view.
